Susan is a florist and flower grower who lives in the hills above Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales. I was delighted to be involved in this collaborative shoot. We decided to use Susan's own home and garden as the location and we chose a very cold and rainy day in November! For her fabulous creations Susan used Roses, Ranunculus and Anenomes. She also used lots of silvery foliages and pinecones. Our beautiful model for the day was local girl Francesca. Francesca is a budding make up artist with a real talent and she did her own make up for the shoot. In addition to all of the above, she is also a super tough cookie, having battled Osteosarcoma as a small child. We think you are amazing ....Go Frankie!!
Well if we thought the weather was bad on Day One, it was shocking on Day Two! Fortunately Susan had a garage handy so I got to work styling a set to look a little like the inside of a ski challet. In addition to photography I have a keen interest in styling and will do my own set dressing whenever possible. Everything I needed was on hand and Susan didn't even mind me borrowing the rugs from her sitting room (and me subsequently covering them in straw)!!!! Hannah our model is a Beauty Therapist in Skipton, so was more than happy to do her own make up for the shoot. Local hairstylist, Ella Beau, was on hand to create beautiful hair for Hannah. For this shoot Susan had used ..........
Many thanks to both Mum's who helped during the shoots. Frankie's Mum, Georgina, held my reflector for hours on end in the pouring rain!! Hannah's Mum, Elaine, got practical by putting up the coat hooks and was also a dab-hand at holding big planks of wood !! Susan's Husband installed 500 fairy lights, which I decided on the day not to use, ooops! Sorry!!
